Dr Rosie Powling

Clinical Psychologist

Rosie is a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years' experience studying and working in the field of Psychology. She has worked in various roles in primary, secondary and specialist mental health services, both in the NHS and private organisations, across the UK and in Australia. Rosie values a compassionate, collaborative and inclusive approach in her practice.

Rosie offers face-to-face and online therapy for mental health, emotional and wellbeing issues. She has worked with diverse people affected by a wide range of difficulties, helping them to feel more calm, confident and in control of their wellbeing. Rosie has a special interest in working with issues around anxiety, military and non-military trauma, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, she has significant experience in working with low mood and depression, low self-esteem and low confidence, stress, sleep difficulties, voice-hearing, and psychosis. Predominantly, she works with adults across the lifespan (aged 16+ years).

Clinical Psychologists are trained to draw upon and integrate a range of therapeutic approaches, integrating both the evidence base ('what works' according to research) and innovation to develop therapy that is tailored to the individual and based around their hopes and goals. As such, Rosie offers psychological therapy based on a collaborative understanding of your difficulties, drawing upon a range of evidence-based approaches. She finds Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy particularly helpful in her work. Ultimately, her aim is to empower you to be your own therapist, so you no longer need to see her and can live a life manageable and meaningful for you.

Rosie is fully insured, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She owns a small independent practice, Valley Psychology, and works at the University of Exeter as a Supervisor in their Clinical Education, Development and Research department on their postgraduate CBT diploma programme.

Rosie has also trained on the Complete Concussion Management programme.
