Registered Member of the Health Professions Council (HPC)
Mel graduated from the University of the West of England with a BSc honours degree in 2000. She has since spent much of her career based in the NHS, initially in a large teaching hospital in London, and the past 5 years in Bristol. She has specialised in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders over the past 7 years, treating a wide range of conditions from acute sporting injuries to chronic pain conditions referred from both GP’s and Consultants.
Mel has worked in occupational health and has extensive experience of work and postural related pain. Mel is due to complete her MACP; a postgraduate qualification in manual therapy, which has further developed her breadth of knowledge and clinical skills. She continues to work in the NHS part time as an extended scope practitioner, specialising in assessment and diagnosis of orthopaedic conditions. This role has enabled strong links with a number of Orthopaedic Consultants in Bristol.
Mel recently completed an injection therapy module at Coventry University and is now able to administer corticosteroid injections for a range of musculoskeletal conditions. In addition she uses acupuncture to complement her treatment programs, when
appropriate. Mel has a particular interest in the management of knee and shoulder conditions and has extensive knowledge in the
treatment of patients post surgery, in particular ACL reconstruction.
Mel enjoys a wide variety of sports including squash, swimming and more recently triathlons and incorporates her knowledge of the demands of sport into her tailored rehabilitation programmes. She is CSP, HPC and shortly to become MACP registered
